Steen Steensen Blicher

(1782-1848)

Priest, poet, politically engaged and author. Went to school and was later employed as a teacher in Randers. The first major narrator and short story writer in Danish literature.

Main works: Tardy Awakening (Sildig opvågnen), The Diary of a Parish Clerk (Brudstykker af en landsbydegns dagbog), The Parson of Veilbye (Præsten fra Vejlby) and Birds of passage (Trækfuglene)
